  1. Irene Zion says:

    Megan,

    I can believe every word,
    except for
    “flushable.”
    Nothing is really
    flushable,
    in the long run.

    • Uche Ogbuji says:

With enough will anything is flushable.

And yes, I think I’ve always been very up front with the fact that I am NOT a romantic 🙂

      • Simon Smithson says:

I worked in the nightclub industry long enough to know the truth – I will show you fear, in a handful of what patrons leave behind. The hope on the other side of that coin, however, is embodied by the phrase: everything flushes.

  2. Megan says:

Not in the long run, Irene. It’s true.

Zizek says something like toilets are symbols of oblivion and nothingness. “[our] entire system of disposal…is conjured up by the need to forget what is considered taboo.”

  3. I wish “with wings” applied to almost everything.

    • Megan says:

Wings are up there on “world’s greatest inventions”. Many a panty has been saved. Have you seen there’s toilet paper now without the roll, thanks to a special winding innovation? That kind of minor breakthrough thrills me. Some guy was working on that for years…

  4. Batteries not included?

  5. Anyway, this was awesome.

  6. Allison says:

mmm…yes…missing you has so many levels…loved it .

  7. Uche Ogbuji says:

Last couplet is my favorite, but love the whole thing.

  8. liesel says:

WHAT bead of clay even sparked the sculpting of this – so awesomely new and different and strong and spot-on. I’m reacting to both the innovation here and the simultaneous deep familiarity and relevance at play. Thanks for this MLP. Missing you ExtraStrength, Waterproof and 10 x concentrated.

    • Megan says:

Que bonito comentario mi L. I can’t claim to know where the original bead came from, but in August I started writing down (on the back of my ultra-organized grocery lists) the packaging phrases that could double as varieties of missing someone. Then I trimmed it down and submitted it. It could have been 600 lines but these were the best ones.

    Love your minimalism
    childhood friend

    King-size love
    for the
    poet Texan

    Dawn!

  12. Zara Potts says:

Great piece! Labels with a perfect fit.

  13. Judy Prince says:

    Love this, Megan!

Apt, I suppose, that adverting equates with love. Does it mean that we “capitalise” on love?

BTW, a HOOT escaped my lips when I read “with wings”—-and for quite a different reason than Sean Beaudoin appreciated it.

Glad to see you back and TNB poet’ing!

  14. Tipo Robín says:

Old Zizek, that neo-Marxist lit. theorist whose physical ticks remind of how one will be if they never stop thinking.

This poem very post-mod, minimal, western dualistic (and about all I have time to look at right now). Very impressed how you’ve used marketing tags to comprise a poem, something Warhol would be grinning at right now if he saw it.

    Flushably yours,

    Kip

  15. Illuminating Finish. The whole foundation of this poem featured an amazing buildable formula that went on smooth, leaving an incredibly silky finish. I think you applied this poem wet with a damp sponge for a full coverage finish or was it dusted on with a powder brush to create a sheer silky finish? It contains reflective moments that optically diffuse life’s blemishes, however the smiles after reading it will accentuate the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and even pores.

  16. Simon Smithson says:

    King sized.

  17. Very shortly this website will be famous among all blogging viewers, due to it’s pleasant posts
