Gutter Books Reading Society FAQ

What is it?
It’s a book club — but not your grandma’s book club (unless your grandma drinks bourbon and reads noir in the bathtub). Every month, we send you one grit-soaked, heart-punched title from the Gutter Books universe or beyond.

How does it work?
Once a month, like clockwork or a suspicious package, a book shows up at your doorstep. Could be a brand-new release. Could be a long-lost cult classic. Could be a dog-eared advance review copy with notes from an overcaffeinated editor in the margins.

We’ll bounce between genres: literary crime, cult memoirs, outlaw lit, weird fiction, smutty essays — you get the picture. We pick what punches.

Who do I contact if something goes wrong?
If your book arrives soaked in coffee, torn in half, or smelling suspiciously like motor oil — or if you just have questions — send a note to:
holler [AT] gutterbooks [DOT] org
We’re nice, we swear.

Is there more?
Yeah, we got more. Every month, members get access to Gutter Talks, our monthly video Q&A with the author, hosted by our very own Saul “Scrappy” Langston. It’s part conversation, part confession booth, part poetry reading in a dive bar bathroom.

Are there refunds?
No refunds once a book is shipped — them’s the rules. You can cancel anytime, though. Just hit “Unsubscribe” at the bottom of the page. Or send us an email. We’ll be sad, but we’ll understand.

How much does it cost?
📚 U.S. subscribers: $10 a month
🌍 International subscribers: $20 a month
(That includes shipping, existential dread, and the occasional handwritten note from the editor.)

What do I get?
One knockout book per month.
Access to Gutter Talks.
Invites to secret online meetups.
Discounts on Gutter merch.
And, most importantly, literary street cred.

How do I pay?
You can pay using:

  • PayPal (safe and boring)
  • Credit card (through our site)
  • Barter system (just kidding — unless you have a typewriter signed by Bukowski)
